VIDEO: Arcadia Woodlands 'Tree Sitters' Feared for Their Lives
Arcadia Woodlands "tree sitters" John Quigley, Julia Posin and Andrea Bowers sit down with Patch for a post-jail interview.
Shortly after being released from jail, tree sitters John Quigley, Andrea Bowers and Julia Jaye Posin sat down with Patch for an interview.
In the interview, which took place at Camron Stone’s home in Arcadia, the group discusses their harrowing experience with the bulldozers, the media censorship that hurt their cause and what will happen now that the Arcadia Woodlands have been destroyed.
Despite conflicting reports from other media outlets, the trio told Patch that Travis Jochimsen, the fourth "tree sitter" remained in jail as of Thursday night on a previous charge. He is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning.
Wednesday, Quigley sent Patch exclusive footage of the woodlands being removed.

Let's hear it for the Tree Sitters Four: John Quigley, Travis Jochimsen, Andrea Bowers, Julia Jaye Posin. Huzzzah!!!
These brave souls exposed themselves to law enforcement for our greater good. Bless them! May they be a shining reminder to all of us that saving our planet will take action. Going GREEN is more than just a color, it's life!

They said there were other places to dump the silt. Where are they? Is it close by? Would the cost be enormous to truck it to one of those holes in the city of Industry? I want to save the trees, too. But would leaving them cause flooding down below? What part of the city would be impacted? Has Arcadia come out to save the trees? By that I mean the city. I just would like to have more answers that I haven't been able to find. The tree people knew they put themselves in danger by climbing the trees. I just think the interview could have been more informative.

Arcadia should be mad. This was an LA BOARD OF SUPERS call. Arcadia will receive the historic blame for decimating an entire grove of ancient oaks for the sake of human convenience.

It was more than just trees, as oak woodlands usually are. This poster sums it up nicely:

Add people strolling, a dog on a leash or two, and a few weeds and you've got a pretty good picture.
The river there was put into a concrete channel decades ago, there was no threat of flooding. The dam way up the canyon needs to be cleared but they didn't have to lay waste to the forest to dump the stuff. What the County is not telling people is they intend to use the site to bring in material from other cities. When those neighbors that didn't complain begin to understand this, their ambivalence will quickly turn to dismay - and anger hopefully. The trees are gone, animals too but this is far from over.

This is a double LA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERS whammy. The hahamongna Watershed and sacred natural open space will be destroyed by the nearby Devil's Gate Dam silt removal project. Removing and killing one place to dump and kill another place. STOP IT!
