First Look: Peck Road Park Improvement Plan

Be on the lookout for construction activity next month at Peck Road Water Conservation Park.

The County has approved $200,000 for general improvements at the park, which include refurbishing the restroom building, replacing damaged picnic tables and fire pits, along with upgrades upgrades to landscaping, walkways and trails.

The project is slated for completion in May 2013, and paid for with a grant from the Los Angeles County Safe Neighborhood Parks Proposition of 1996, otherwise known as Proposition A.  

Calling the project "exciting," Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Special Assistant Kay Michelson said, "This project will assist in the Department’s ongoing efforts to provide outstanding recreational destinations for all to enjoy."

The project also contains a Youth Employment Plan, which is required to comply with the County of Los Angeles Regional Park and Open Space District’s Youth Employment Policy, which will authorize at-risk youth to perform weed abatement and general clean-up on this project.  

This is Phase II of the project. Phase I included the planting of  approximately 250 sycamore and Oak trees.
