We're relatively new here (8 years), but are aghast at the GIANT BOXES that are haphazardly erected Read Morewhere beautiful homes once sat. These builders don't seem to mind that there's no yard, nothing organic at all about their new giant cloned box. Often it's faux pillars, faux balconies (for their King to address their flock?), faux everything. I guess their buyers don't care about the outside appearance, either. Maybe the whole idea is to have massive internal square footage for....whatever, and who cares what the outside looks like to anyone. To me it's like the builders are trying to "peacock" Beverly Hills without the cred or any sense of aesthetic. Arcadia will never be Beverly Hills. It's Arcadia and we like it that way.

I completely agree. My husband was born and raised in Arcadia and only lived 1 mile from the border Read Morewhen we met. With the birth of our first child in 98, we wanted the school system but loved the older neighborhoods. We moved into the south end where the ranch style homes were everywhere, you had privacy but could talk to your friends over the back fence. Now we swim in our pool with the neighbor on the 2nd floor of the 6700 sq. ft. home watching our every move. There are no trees outside of our lot on 2 sides and cement front and back yards with the bare minimum of greenery abound. We can't wait for retirement and a move to a place where we can enjoy what used to be Arcadia's calling.

I enjoyed shopping there. When they had a sale they really had a sale. I bought many an itemRead Morethere for my family. Employees were always friendly and very helpful. Gift wrap was fantastic as it was done with a sturdy box, not a fold up one. I was sad to see the store close.
