A Glamorous Start to Westfield Style Tour

Westfield Santa Anita event makes high fashion affordable and accessible to all.

Now in its third year, the drew hundreds of local residents to the Saturday for a weekend of fashion and fun. In addition to enjoying the Macy’s fashion show hosted by America’s Next Top Model season two winner Yoanna House as part of the opening weekend festivities, attendees also got a chance to enter and win a trip to New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

“In regards to fashion and style I think what’s most important is finding your own identity,” affirmed House in an interview with Patch. It was the model’s first time to Westfield Santa Anita and “I have to say it’s fantastic,” she added.

Center court was filled with excited girls and women who received styling and make-up consultations from professional stylists, including complete makeovers, and wardrobe advice according to body type, taste, and lifestyle. Professional styling consultations can cost up to $2,000 a day, but all these services are free during the Style Tour.

“It’s an opportunity for our customers to change their image. Get a fresh look on what’s in style for spring and summer and still stay within their budget,” said Lead Stylist Isa Diaz.

For anyone who wants to look like a supermodel without paying the price, these stylists provide practical and affordable styling tips while recommending specific pieces of clothing and accessories, written down for each client and available for purchase from retail stores within the mall.

“We’re not putting [clients] in designer clothing.  We’re kind of replicating what you see on the runway this season at more affordable prices that are still timeless and that are still great buys but not a fortune,” Diaz said. “It’s a great way for Westfield to give back to its clients I think.”

Shoppers and clients can take advantage of other promotional offers throughout retail stores of the mall including: , , , , , Kiehl’s, , Micahel Kors and .

With the economy and retail stores in particular facing rough times, the Westfield Style Tour will generate healthy revenue for the mall, and in the end, for the City of Arcadia, benefiting both local businesses and people such as Iraise Garcia, a first-time participant at the event.

“I really consider myself a person without a style so having a lot more experts and professionals just to kind of give you a little bit of insight into their own madness of themselves is pretty awesome,” Garcia said with a beaming smile and mission in mind. “I already know that I’m going to H&M to get several things there.”

This coming Friday and Saturday will be the last weekend of the style tour. Within every woman there lies a unique voice to be heard and seen. Fashion can be an empowering method of self-expression, and the Westfield Style Tour offers the tools and guidance on this runway called life.
