Arboretum Looks to Future with New Online Survey

New online survey seeks community opinions on gardens, services, classes and more.

The wants to hear from you on how they can improve services offered to residents of Arcadia and L.A. County at large.

Richard Schulhof, the Arboretum's CEO told Patch that the survey was part of a grander purpose of reaching out to the community and finding out what they would like to see at the Arboretum in the future.

"What we're doing is we're asking the community how we can do a better job, and what the needs are for information, for garden experience and for experiences here at the Arboretum that would be helpful to the community," Schulhof told Patch.

Schulhof said Arboretum officials want to gather as much information as possible from survey respondents and use that in planning future installments and events.

Schulhof said the idea of reaching out to the community for feedback was a new step for the Arboretum, going so far as to call it an "unusual" commitment to the community from a public organization such as the Arboretum.

, local author and columnist here on Patch, voiced her support for the feedback project.

"We can all help with one of Los Angeles County's most valuable public resources, the Arboretum," Gillis said. "The new director of the Arboretum wants all of our input to help determine a strategic plan."

The survey is an online questionnaire that takes between 5 and 10 minutes to complete. But for those who would prefer voicing their opinions and ideas the old fashioned way, Schulhof said he could make that happen.

"We're not set up to mail out hard copies," Schulhof said, "but if people want to contact me I'd be happy to mail them one."
