Methane Emissions Study Will Be Conducted in Arcadia

A university is partnering with the gas company to study methane emissions in the San Gabriel Valley.

A research team from Washington State University will join representatives of Southern California Gas Company in conducting a methane emissions study at several locations in Arcadia beginning next week.

The testing will also take place in portions of Claremont, Covina, and Altadena, according to an Arcadia Police Department Nixle alert.

"The research team carefully selected numerous sites in various regions around the country that meet specific criteria in order to ensure that the dataset will be as comprehensive and representative for national scaling as possible," the alert states.

The testing will take place mostly on private property and is not expected to cause any disruptions.
