Don't Set Off Fireworks in Angeles National Forest, Officials Warn
Forest officials say that fireworks are forbidden year-round in all national forests and that violations are punishable.
The U.S. Forest Service, Angeles National Forest warns in a press release that fireworks are not allowed at the Angeles National Forest on New Year's Eve.
"The use of fireworks is prohibited on all national forests," says Thomas Contreras, forest supervisor in the press release. "The regulations are enforced, and violation is punishable as a misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000, imprisonment of not more than six months, or both."
"The ban on fireworks is year-round, regardless of weather conditions or holidays. Forest visitors are also reminded that fires are only allowed in designated campgrounds with fire rings provided," states the press release.
