Police Search Santa Anita Mall For Alleged Armed Man
Authorities searched the mall top to bottom for the man reportedly armed with a handgun.
Arcadia Police, with the help of a helicopter, searched for a man believed to be armed with a handgun Saturday night.
The initial call was dispatched after 8 p.m. at the Santa Anita Mall. Security called Arcadia Police and reported seeing the suspect, a man in his early 20s wearing a black jacket, carrying what they believed was a firearm.
Officers searched every floor of the mall, but could not locate the suspect. Mall security had lost sight of the suspect before officers could arrive, said Sergeant Stephen Fallavollita of Arcadia Police.
Just before 11 p.m., mall security observed their suspect outside the mall driving a car. Police arrived and performed a felony traffic stop on the vehicle and detained the driver and one other occupant, according to scanner reports.
Police determined the man had no weapons on him and no arrests were made, Fallavollita said.
