Artists Wanted for June Street Art Festival

The second annual "Art of Millionaire's Row" is in the planning stages right now, and artists who want their work displayed must turn in an application in April.

The second annual "Art of Millionaire's Row" festival is coming to the Library on June 11 and artists from across Southern California are encouraged to apply to have their work displayed.

The festival will include artist booths, craft booths and food vendors, and awards will be given to the best work, according to Michel Choban, one of the event's organizers.

In addition, this year there will be a special theme: each participant is invited to submit an art project on or about books that are provided by the library, according to Choban.

Last year's festival, the first ever, was a big success for the organizers of the event, Choban said.

"Last year's festival was a great success, demonstrating once again that Altadena and the surrounding SGV communities are still home to many fine artists and craftspeople," Choban wrote in an email.  "There were about thirty people renting booths, an auditorium full of paintings competing for awards, a half dozen food stalls, and a children's project on the library entrance bridge.  We even managed to net a profit for the benefit of the Library Foundation."

There are two ways for artists or crafts people to have their wares displayed: they can either enter an artwork in the salon exhibition or rent a 10' by 10' space and set up their own booth.

There is a $50 fee for those looking to rent a booth, and a $25 for those who want exhibition space.  Applications to do either are due on April 29, and information on how to apply and official applications are attached to this article.

Works on exhibition and for sale will include painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass, photography, prints, fabrics and leather, jewelry, and mixed media and assemblage

The festival is named for the old nickname for the neighborhood around the library, which featured several prominent mansions in the early days of Altadena.
