Great Escape: Don't Miss the Finale of Festival on the Green

The kids will be back at school by month's end and fall is just around the corner. Enjoy a final summer outing with the family at the Arboretum.

Saturday is the last concert of 2011 for the famed at the .

This always popular summer event that commenced in June is closing its curtain with a bang.

Put on by the California Philharmonic, Festival on the Green always brings out a packed crowd. With uproarious and eloquent talent, the orchestra never fails to impress.

The last of five concerts in the series, the Aug. 20  finale is themed, "That's Entertainment," featuring familiar music from the silverscreen's most memorable soundtracks.

On the set list is music from Rhapsody In Blue For Violin, Fiddler On The Roof, Titanic, Mahler’s Titan, Pirates Of The Caribbean and My Fair Lady.

All ages are welcome and everyone no matter what age should have a blast.

Pack up a romantic picnic, or the kids' favorite snacks because you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks. It's a great way to save some money.

Not keen on lifting a finger? Choose from a number of fresh foods on site as well as soft drinks, wine, beer and coffee.

The gates open at 5:30 p.m. You can get in a pre-concert meal while listening to live jazz. This pre-concert entertainment is provided by redwhite+bluezz.

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. but it's best to arrive early to find your seat.

Be sure to bring a sweater or jacket, as the event goes into the night, with temperatures dropping considerably.

You can purchase tickets at the Arboretum Box Office, starting as low as $20 for unreserved lawn seating, which opens at 10 a.m. on the day of the concert.
