Awareness

We live in a time where being aware of your surroundings is vital.  There are a lot of people in today's society that are desperate and will go to extreme measures to rob or assault you.  Being aware is important so that you may identify these dangers and hopefully prevent a violent attack.  At Ring of Fire Martial Arts Academy  www.rofmaa.com  we stress the importance of not only physical self defense but awareness.  Take the time to practice the three A's (Attitude, Awareness and Action).  Having attitude does not mean to walk around mean mugging everyone, rather walk with confidence.  Look people in the eye as you pass them on the street, in the store, mall etc.  This lets potential attackers know that you are aware of their presence.  Be Aware. Do not be oblivious to what is going on around you.  Take note of passersby, take note of people in restaurants, at gas stations etc.  It only takes a moment to look around and see what someone is wearing, where they are and how they are acting.  The last A is action.  Have a plan of action.  Be ready for the physical altercation or physical self defense part of a situation.  This usually happens when you are attacked and blindsided or when there is no way of talking your way out of a situation.
