One of the best ways to get in shape for the summer is to prepare for an athletic event.

If you are like many people that get easily distracted with all the outdoor barbeques, vacations, and drinking parties going on in the summer, you may need a more creative way to keep you motivated and committed to your workout. Try preparing for an event in fall. 

One of the best ways to get in shape for the summer is to prepare for an athletic event. You can train for a mud run, a sport, or any event that requires some physical preparation. The real benefit is that you will more likely start training now and will likely think twice about skipping your workout for that outdoor eating activity during the summer.

Once you sign up for that event, you will then have to incorporate an effective training program to get you in physical shape for that event. The best thing to do is to consult a fitness professional that has experience training people in that specific event you are training for.
