Breeder's Cup Returning to Santa Anita in 2014

The local track books the prestigious international race three years in a row.

Santa Anita Park will host the Breeder's Cup for the third consecutive year when the race returns to Arcadia in 2014, according to the park's website.

The race has been held at Santa Anita six times in the past and will kick off for the seventh time in Arcadia this October before returning again next year.

The 2014 event, which includes purses and awards of $27 million, will be shown live on NBC, the site states.

"Santa Anita has proven to be an outstanding host for our Championships, providing horsemen and fans around the world with a first class facility and one of the greatest experiences in sports. We are delighted to extend our partnership with Santa Anita for a third consecutive year,” said Craig Fravel, Breeders’ Cup President and CEO, in a prepared statement.

Santa Anita has previously hosted the race in 1986, 1993, 2003, 2008 and 2009, and 2012.
