Fire Engulfs Vehicle, No Injuries Reported

Authorities prevented a vehicle blaze from spreading to adjacent structures Friday.

Firefighters made quick work of an engulfed vehicle fire Friday morning.

There were no injuries or damage to surrounding structures, and the fire is being ruled as accidental, authorities said. The fire was reported just before 11 a.m. in the 2800 block of Bradford Ave. Callers reported a structure fire because of the volume of smoke seen, but authorities discovered that a car parked in the driveway of a residence was actually burning, said Lieutenant Colleen Flores of Arcadia Police.

The vehicle, a 2011 Dodge Charger, experienced a mechanical problem, the cause of which was not immediately known. Officers evacuated nearby homes and blocked traffic while firefighters worked on the blaze.

The fire was quickly knocked down, said Kevin Valentine, battalion chief with the Arcadia Fire Department.

"Fortunately we contained the fire to the car only. It was right next to a garage and a house," he said.
