UPDATED 11:49 a.m.: Arcadia Police reported that discarded smoking items left in the trashcan were the likely culprit in a minor garage fire in the 1300 block of South Fourth Street, according to police. A wood beam supporting the garage was damaged, but the majority of the fire was contained in the trashcan.
PREVIOUSLY: Officials are still on scene at a home where a trashcan fire caused minor damage to the garage Saturday night.
The fire was reported some time after 7:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Fourth Street. No one was reportedly home at the time, according to scanner reports. The trashcan was on the outside of the house and the fire caused no significant structural damage, police said.
The cause was not known to police at this time.
