PD Shuts Down Santa Anita To Look for Man With Weapon
Passerby alerts police to the man, but he turned out to only have a cell phone on him.
Police searched for almost 20 minutes, Saturday, for a man believed to be brandishing a weapon at people and passing cars, only to discover the man had a cell phone.
The search began just after 6 p.m. near the , 20 West Duarte Road.
The caller stated the man was walking south along Santa Anita Avenue and appeared to have a weapon in his hand. Police blocked traffic to southbound Santa Anita Avenue from Duarte Road, said Sergeant Cieadlo of
Authorities searched the area for the suspect and eventually located him.
"He was not holding a weapon, he was actually holding a cell phone. It ended up being a whole big nothing," Cieadlo said.
Santa Anita was re-poened soon after the incident.
