Small Car Fire Shuts Down 210 Offramp

Offramp shut down while authorities worked to extinguish fire.

Police drove up on a vehicle fire Thursday evening on the Santa Anita offramp from the 210 freeway west.

The fire was confined to the engine compartment. The offramp was closed temporarily for fire crews to work and due to the potential for the fire to spread, said Lieutenant Mike Castro of

The vehicle was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported.

An officer drove up on the Toyota four-door vehicle on the offramp just before 10:30 p.m. The officer saw what looked like the beginnings of a car fire and asked for the to respond. Traffic was diverted back onto the freeway, according to scanner reports.

Arcadia Fire was on scene within minutes and extinguished the flames. The owner of the car reportedly showed up as the fire was being extinguished. It was not immediately known why the fire started.
