National Donut Day 2011: Free Donuts at Krispy Kreme

BakeMark-supplied shops in Arcadia will donate to The Salvation Army in honor of National Donut Day.

Friday is National Donut Day, a day started in 1938 by the Salvation Army to raise needed funds during the Great Depression and honor the work of the women volunteers who made the tasty sugary snacks for American soldiers during World War I.

In Arcadia, BakeMark-supplied donut shops and will be donating a portion of the proceeds from donut sales to the Salvation Army. According to BakeMark's Web site, these donations will help Southern California's Salvation Army in its Veteran Assistance programs and other humanitarian efforts.

Meanwhile, the nearest Krispy Kremes, in City of Industry and Burbank, are both offering one free donut to each guest all day. To find the closest Krispy Kreme, click here for a store locator.
