(Video) Westfield Celebrates Chinese New Year

The festival highlights the Asian community's growing prominence in Arcadia.

Thousands of revelers rang in the Year of the Snake on Saturday with dancers, calligraphers and a craft table at the Santa Anita Mall.

This is the first time Westfield has celebrated Chinese New Year. In preparation for Saturday's festival, the mall was decorated with a 600-pound steel dragon hanging from the ceiling over the center court, a pagoda and numerous Chinese lanterns, among other adornments.

Jason Lu attended Saturday's festivities with his wife and infant son.
"We're having a great time," Lu said. "I've never heard of a Chinese New Year at the mall."
