Photo: Starbucks Opens in Montrose

The Seattle-based coffee chain opened at 5 a.m. Friday near Honolulu Avenue and Ocean View Boulevard.

It's official. Starbucks is open for business across the street from in Montrose.

Customers began carrying Mermaid-adorned cups at 5 a.m. at 2282 Honolulu Ave.,  the former location of Color Me Mine.

The Starbucks location will not sell alcohol, said manager Joe Agnone during Thursday's Montrose Shopping Park Association meeting.

The facelift to the building looks great but who will win in the end? Starbucks or Coffee Bean conveniently across the street.

I am voting with my feet! It's ridiculous to have a Starbucks on Honolulu when there's one right there across from VHH. Now, if this were a Peet's, I'd consider patronizing them. For now, if I want to overpay for coffee at any establishment, I'll stick to Coffee Bean. Starbucks is just annoying!
