The night of kids dressing in costume is here. But just where should they go trick-or-treating in the foothills?
Check out this list of free Halloween events on Wednesday, Oct. 31:
- Haunted Halloween Happenings: Join us for this beloved annual Haunted Halloween event! Elementary school students can roam the haunted hallways of the Arcadia Community Center from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. and enjoy activities, including Scary Crafts, Trick-or-Treating and Goblin Games. Undercover costume judges will roam the festivities in search of participants wearing the best costumes. This event is free of charge and open to the public. The Community Center is at 365 Campus Drive.
- Trick-or-Treat at the Santa Anita Mall from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Merchants will be handing out treats to little ghosts and goblins. The mall is at 400 Baldwin Ave.
- Ruyle Manor Haunted House: Check out the haunted house at 307 E. Foothill Blvd. Apt. A in Arcadia. This haunted house is in its fifth year. Admission is free.
- Old Town Haunted House: Located just minutes from Arcadia, the Old Town Haunted House at 20 Raymond Street in Pasadena will certainly give you a fright. Venture down into the basement of the historical Union Savings Bank Building, which many believe to actually be haunted and so was shut down for years. Tonight, the house is decorated with detailed sets from television shows such as '"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and horror films such as "House of a 1,000 Corpses" and "Haunted Mansion." The haunted house runs from 7 p.m. to midnight. Tickets cost $17 for general admission or $22 for VIP tickets (you get the skip the long line). A portion of ticket sales will benefit a to-be designated non-profit oganization.
Where do you recommend trick-or-treating in Arcadia? Does a certain neighborhood have the best decorations or give out the best candy?
