Arcadia's Summer Concert Series Lineup Announced

Summer concerts kick off on the lawn at City Hall in Arcadia every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. beginning next month.

The free concert series will include activities for kids and food can be purchased from the Dogtown Dogs Gourmet Food Truck that will be parked nearby for every concert, according to a city news release.

The city of Arcadia provided the following lineup:

The 1st Marine Division Band (Patriotic) - July 11, 2013 The 1st Marine Division Band, based out of Camp Pendleton, California, consists of 50 Marine musicians. While the primary mission of the 1st Marine Division Band is to provide musical support for military parades and ceremonies, they remain versatile to accommodate other needs. In addition to the Ceremonial Band and Concert Band, the band forms smaller ensembles such as Big Band, Jazz Combo, Brass Quintet, and Party Band. They perform at over 300 commitments a year, with highlights including the State Funeral of President Ford, the Tournament of Roses Parade, Disneyland's Independence Day Concerts, and annual concerts at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. In 2007, the 1st Marine Division Band was awarded the "Colonel George S. Howard Citation of Musical Excellence for Military Concert Bands" administered by the John Philip Sousa Foundation.   All Marine Corps Bands fulfill the objective of preserving the values that comprise the unique and fundamental national strength and character of the United States. Whether performing music or serving in a combat zone, the 1st Marine Division Band carries on this esteemed tradition and remains the Pride of the Division.  

Sharon & the Chevelles – July 18, 2013   Sharon & the Chevelles have been delighting audiences since 2007, playing every summer during Hot August Nights in Reno, and also at concerts, car shows, nostalgia events, and dances throughout the West.  The group performs a rockin’ tribute to the 50's & 60's, featuring your favorite songs from Elvis, Brenda Lee, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, Chuck Berry, the Beatles, Dion, Lesley Gore, the Shirelles, Ricky Nelson, & more!  

The Chris Lozano Band – July 25, 2013
  Chris has always had a love for country music. He has an even greater love for our nation which he helps to protect as an Infantry Unit Leader in the Marine Corps (1998 – Present). Still on Active Duty, he continues his pursuit of music by performing at Local clubs to Concert in the Park series throughout Southern California and also at every duty station to which he has been assigned.

In late 2009, Chris was stationed in Virginia. He decided to put his energy into pursuing his natural talent and desire for music. Now back home in Southern California, Chris sought out, auditioned, and put together a group of extremely talented studio, session, and touring musicians. Now here to take the west coast by storm, Chris is proud to present his band, The Chris Lozano Band.  

Upstream – August 1, 2013
  The band Upstream, whose members include two sons of the venerable inventor of Soca music, the late Ras Shorty I, was formed in the republic of Trinidad & Tobago in 1989. They relocated to Southern California in the early nineties and made a name for themselves performing in numerous venues, events and festivals, throughout California and Western States for over 15 years. Their energetic eclectic style of Reggae and Soca has earned them a formidable appellation in the music industry world. Upstream’s talent, creativity and vision are astounding!  All of the musician's are brilliant, quite unique and bring various seasonings to the pot!  The band plays an indescribably fascinating blend of Reggae, Calypso, Soca and Steelpan Music.

Cold Duck – August 8, 2013
  Back by popular demand!  Join us once again for this special celebration….National Night Out & Arcadia’s 110th Birthday!  National Night Out promotes crime prevention and awareness through police-community partnerships.  Arcadia’s Police and Fire Department will be joining us for this very special occasion. Free fingerprinting for the kids, crime prevention materials and other information will be available. Stop by and show your support to Arcadia’s finest.  But wait…that is not it!  Help Arcadia celebrate our 110th birthday by enjoying some birthday cake (while supplies last) sponsored by Arcadia’s Historical Society.   Since its inception over two decades ago, Cold Duck’s philosophy has been directly responsible for their continued success: “Give the people what they want to hear and have a good time delivering it!”  With this solid experienced musicianship, it should come as no surprise that Cold Duck is renowned for being one of the most versatile bands in existence.  Cold Duck continues its tradition of excellent musicianship and groovin' rhythms.  So let’s have a good time dancing the night away!  

The Answer – August 15, 2013   Since 1964 The Answer has been supplying its renditions of top 40 hits, what once was popular rock is now classified as classic rock. The Answer’s uncanny reproduction of all that’s good in classic rock sets them far above their competition. With stage energy, witty antics, and FREE giveaways, The Answer delivers a knock out show enjoyed by all ages! This is simply a show you cannot miss!  

Cash Up Front – August 22, 2013
  "CASH UP FRONT" - Inspired by the music of the legendary Johnny Cash, this foursome brings the legend to life. We are not a tribute band in the traditional sense, although we do wear black - some things are sacred. Everywhere from Hollywood, to Las Vegas, to Laughlin, and beyond, our goal is to entertain audiences everywhere with a voice out front that must be heard to be believed!
