Attempted Bank Robbery Suspect Threatens Tellers with Suitcase Bomb in Arcadia

Police say a man claimed to have an explosive device while attempting to rob the Citibank on First Avenue.

A man allegedly robbed a bank in Arcadia this week and claimed to be carrying a suitcase with a bomb inside, police said.

The suspect approached a teller inside the Citibank on 100 S. First Avenue shortly before 1:30 p.m. Monday and demanded money, according to an Arcadia Police Department news release.

"The suspect showed the teller a small black case which he said contained a bomb," the release states. "The suspect demanded money and said the device would detonate if the teller did not comply. The teller said the suspect grew impatient and appeared nervous, leaving the location on foot before taking any cash."

Photos of the suspect were captured by bank surveillance cameras. He is described as a male Caucasian, 23-30 years old, about 5 feet 6, 160 pounds, with brown hair wearing a red long sleeve sweater and tan baggy shorts.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the Arcadia Police Department at 626-574-5150.
