Patch Blog: Finally Up on the Little Screen

Some folks want to be taller or richer or see the world. Of course, I've wanted all of those (mostly taller.) But what I've really really wanted is a video.

So I’ve always wanted to do a video that captured the spirit of our dental practice.

Some folks wanna be taller or richer or see the world. Of course, I've wanted all of those (mostly taller.) But what I've really really wanted is a video.

My team members, who are so cool they represent the family I actually got to choose, have never been all that excited about being the center of attention (for me, no problemo.)

Nevertheless, in the past, my TCDC crew has reluctantly gone along with my requests for actual onstage appearances, even when we were billed “The not Ready for Prime Time No Talent Players.”

Shucks, Singing Dental Assistant Kolleen even wound up portraying Vegas icon Wayne Newton on the Venetian stage in front of about a 1000 people. Kolleen had only been assisting here a couple of months before she took on the tuxedo, the moustache, and the slicked back hair for that free trip to Sin City and a Molar Jockey convention…and talent show.

Kolleen has never been quite the same since; thing is, she’s actually taken on way more challenges. And mostly all because of lessons learned from the Vito Corleone School of Friendly Godfather Persuasion.

So I’ve used my trusty little flip video around here for years in a mostly vain attempt to capture interviews and upload ‘em to Facebook and YouTube. And I thought the older I got, the more my squad would just cave in and humor me. But I guess when you’re camera shy you’re just camera shy…unless.

We’ve always known that living and working and having fun in the process just flat out makes everything better. And why not be more likeable, trustworthy, and effective with a smile on your face (laughter actually produces way more endorphins for me than riding a stationary bike in a roomful of mirrors while listening to Techno.)

One of our huge practice goals has long been helping patients become their own best health advocate. Step One in the process: helping folks relax (and research shows humor helps us all retain info more effectively as we become better listeners.)

So we have a practice advisor from all the way back in Atlanta and he’s really made a difference helping us be more effective while living up to our mission: “Making a world-class difference for others and making dentistry fun.” That’s right, making dentistry fun.

And who else offers up his own Lamborghini as the prize for the video best representing that elusive small biz double-play combo: awareness to progress to transformation?

If you’re trying to come up with an offer that doesn’t get refused, there’s no need for violence; just offer up a Lamborghini some time.

So I’m livin’ the dream on the screen. We have a video. A Lambo is an offer none of us could refuse. And win, lose, or draw it’s cool celebrating some victories and sharing them with the people you serve.

Hope you enjoy “Upgrade 5X.” As in…five times greater patient care (we’re already working on the sequel.)

The video is about transformation on several levels; any bruin v Noble Trojan characterizations are totally coincidental.
