Construction Heads East on the Gold Line (Photos)

Arcadia residents have long experienced construction of the Gold Line Foothill Extension from east Pasadena to Glendora, first with the 210 rail bridge, now with the Arcadia station and the at-grade rail intersection at First and Santa Clara street.

The pace of construction is starting to shift eastwards as well though - as illustrated with the above photos, the Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority is working on a rail bridge over the San Gabriel River between Duarte and Azusa, as well as the Monrovia and Duarte stations.

The map pictured above also shows the status of the at-grade rail and road intersection construction sites like the one at First and Santa Clara.  Many of those sites are already completed out east, like the one in Azusa pictured above.

Construction on the 11.5 mile extension from the Sierra Madre Villa station in Pasadena to Citrus Avenue on the Azusa/Glendora border started in 2010 and is scheduled for completion in September of 2015.  It will feature six new stations once complete.

Arcadia residents can always check on the state of road closure and construction in the city by checking the Gold Line authority's online map for the city.
