Officers Give Chase to Men in Stolen Car

Police terminated the chase when the suspects reportedly reached unsafe speeds.

terminated a pursuit of a stolen vehicle earlier Friday after the chase wound its way into Baldwin Park, reaching speeds of up to 80 miles per hour.

The pursuit of the stolen vehicle began before 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Peck Road and Lower Azusa Road. An officer checked the license plate which came back as reported stolen, said Lieutenant Bob Anderson. The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop.

The pursuit snaked along eastbound on Arrow Highway and then traveled on the Interstate 605 freeway south. The suspects reportedly ran a red light after it exited the freeway onto Lower Azusa Road in Baldwin Park.

Officers terminated the chase once they determined speeds to be dangerous, Anderson said.

Just before the chase was terminated, the suspect vehicle sideswiped two parked cars in the area of Center Street and Ramona Parkway. Two suspects fled on foot into an apartment complex in the 13000 block of Ramona Parkway.

None of the three suspects were caught.
