The Jewish Federation of the Greater San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys will honor Mayor Pro Tem Mickey Segal at its annual Comunity Leaders Brunch on Oct. 21. Segal, a long-time member of the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center, is serving his third term on the Arcadia City Council.
"Mickey epitomizes what it means to be a leader," a statement from the Federation said. "His involvement has ranged from Pasadena Jewish Temple & Center’s President to serving on the Arcadia City Council."
Indeed, Segal's community involvement track record would put even the most conscientious citizen to shame. In addition to his City Council duties, Segal serves as the Chairman of the Board of Arcadia Methodist Hospital.
Mickey has served in other leadership capacities for several other worthwhile organizations, including Covenant House and his alma mater, California State Polytechnic University at Pomona.
Also, in the past decade alone, Segal has raised over $60 million for local charities.
Segal is responsible for bringing Paul Anka in to perform a benefit concert Oct. 27 for the Arcadia Performing Arts Foundation, which will mark the culmination of the grand opening ceremonies for Arcadia Unified School District's $25 million Performing Arts Center.
A managing partner at renowned Century City accounting firm Nigro Karlin Segal & Feldstein, Segal counts Anka amongst his A-list clientele.
When asked how he manages to run one of L.A.'s top accounting firm and give so much to his community, Segal credited the people around him.
"I surround myself with really good people, and those really good people help me look really good," he said.
Segal and his wife, Lee, have three children: Allison, Matthew and Andrew.
The Community Leaders Federation luncheon takes place at the Doubletree Hotel in Monrovia at 10:30 a.m.
