A man suspected of firing a shot into the ceiling of an Arcadia 7-Eleven during a robbery attempt may be in Fontana Police custody.
Arcadia Police Lt. Tom LeVeque said Fontana officers arrested the suspect, along with another man, in connection with a separate robbery that took place in Fontana last week.
"There are similarities in the cases and we believe our suspect is in custody," LeVeque said via e-mail. "We are now looking into our options for the filing of charges, either jointly in San Bernardino County, or a separate filing here in L.A. County."
The Arcadia robbery attempt occurred shortly after 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 24 at the 7-Eleven at 2 East Duarte Road.
The suspect, wearing a skull mask and dressed all in black, had reportedly pointed a handgun at the store manager and demanded money. The manager grabbed onto the suspect's gun, and during the ensuing struggle, the suspect allegedly fired one round into the ceiling. He fled the store, leaving behind a black backpack.
No loss was reported. The incident was recorded on video surveillance.
