A fire at a 17-unit apartment complex in the 800 block of Arcadia Avenue did serious damage to a family's three-bedroom unit but fortunately nobody was home at the time of the incident, according to a release from the Arcadia Fire Department.

The fire was reported at 6:08 p.m. and the department had extinguished it by 6:30 p.m, according to the release.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time, but investigators believe the likely reason for the fire was an electrical malfunction.

Damage costs from the fire are estimated at $70,000, $40,000 for the structure and $30,000 for possessions lost or damaged in the fire.
