Update: Police Release Name of Arcadia Man Severely Injured After Being Hit by Car

Arcadia resident Fred Peterson, 64, was walking east at the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Alta Street when he was struck by a vehicle.

Fred Peterson, a 64-year-old Arcadia resident, is in the hospital with severe injuries after being hit by a car Sunday evening as he crossed the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Alta Street, the Arcadia Police Department said.

Peterson, who suffered severe injuries to his right shoulder, head, chest and right leg, was taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries, Det. Mike Hale told Patch in a phone interview Monday afternoon. 

Det. Hale said police had not yet been in contact with Peterson's next of kin.

Preliminary investigation shows that Peterson was walking east at the cross walk on Santa Anita Avenue at Alta Street when he was struck by a motorist heading north. There is not a traffic light at the Santa Anita Avenue and Alta Street intersection, Det. Hale said.

The driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old Temple City man, is not being held, according to police.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene at around 6:05 p.m. Sunday, according to a statement released by police.
