Arcadia Police are on "elevated high alert" as law enforcement agencies across the state continue searching for an ex-Los Angeles Police officer suspected of killing three people.
Christopher Jordan Dorner was fired from the LAPD in 2009. He is accused of killing two people in Irvine on Sunday, one of whom was the daughter of a retired LAPD officer Dorner says commandeered his firing. Dorner then reportedly shot and killed an officer in Riverside County during a standoff early Thursday morning.
Arcadia police officials say they are taking no chances.
"Typically our officers are solo in a patrol unit," Lt. Colleen Flores said. "Our officer safety deployment strategy during the Dorner manhunt is to have two officers per patrol unit."
Dorner is described as a 33-year-old African American Male, 6-feet tall, and 270 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Police found his burned out truck in Big Bear on Thursday.
Reports state Dorner may be driving a Lexus now.
