Arcadia Police Blotter: Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle, Man Stabbed

The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the police from Oct. 27-Nov. 2.

The following information is from the Arcadia Police Department for the period of Sunday, Oct. 27 through Saturday, Nov. 2. The police department responded to 940 calls for service of which 150 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period:

Sunday, October 27: 

Around 12:10 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of West Norman Avenue regarding a battery report. A boyfriend and his girlfriend became involved in a physical altercation after a heated argument. The 28-year-old White female was determined to be the primary aggressor. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At about 6:40 p.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, in regards to a theft report. While the victim was shopping inside Steve Madden, she set her purse down on a side table and noticed it missing a few minutes later. After taking the purse, the unknown suspect(s) proceeded to Nordstrom and charged approximately $400 in merchandise. Further investigation is being conducted by the Detective Bureau to retrieve suspect information from Nordstrom.

Monday, October 28:

At approximately 3:25 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of South Santa Anita Avenue regarding a disturbance. An investigation revealed a female suspect broke into her ex-boyfriend’s residence through a window and attacked him and his new girlfriend. The 20-year-old White female was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City   Jail for booking. The 23-year-old White male boyfriend was also arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales.

Shortly after 2:55 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding an identity theft report. The victim discovered unknown suspect(s) attempted to wire transfer approximately $100,000 from his bank account to an entity in Texas. There was no loss at the time of the report as the victim’s bank was able to reverse the transaction. The victim had no idea how his personal information was compromised.

Tuesday, October 29:

Shortly after 1:25 p.m., an officer observed a white Mercedes driving recklessly in the 1100 block of Baldwin Avenue and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle was lane swerving and cutting off other vehicles while traveling over 55 miles per hour. The 20-year-old Asian male was cited for Reckless Driving and released in the field without incident.

At approximately 2:10 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of First Avenue and Duarte Road for expired registration. An investigation revealed the driver was in possession of methamphetamine and unauthorized prescription medication. The 54-year-old White female was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

Wednesday, October 30: 

Just after midnight, an officer was dispatched to BJ’s Restaurant and Brewery, 400 East Huntington Drive, regarding a disturbance. The officer made contact with two subjects sitting inside a vehicle and discovered one subject was under the influence of alcohol and unable to care for herself. The 24-year-old Hispanic female was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Around 5:09 p.m., an officer responded to H&M at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, in reference to a theft report. Two subjects concealed merchandise inside their clothing and a used shopping bag, and exited the store without making payment. The 24-year-old Hispanic female and 25-year-old Hispanic male were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

Thursday, October 31:

At about 7:02 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration in the area of Peck Road and Clark Street. An investigation revealed the driver and passenger were in violation of a valid restraining order, which the passenger had filed against the driver on October 1st. Further investigation revealed the driver was the suspect in a recent fraud case in which the suspect attempted to cash an altered check at Wells Fargo Bank, 298 East Live Oak Avenue, and left behind his driver’s license. The 32-year-old Hispanic male driver was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Around 8:35 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Huntington Drive and South Baldwin Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision between one vehicle and a pedestrian.   Arcadia Fire responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to Huntington Memorial Hospital for a skull fracture and internal injuries. An investigation revealed the vehicle was making a right turn onto Huntington Drive on a green light when the pedestrian crossed the street on an active “Do Not Walk” signal. The driver, who stopped and dialed 9-1-1, was not held at the time of the report. The pedestrian later passed away as a result of her injuries. 

Friday, November 1:

Just after 10:00 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Nordstrom at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. A 31-year-old White female subject concealed merchandise inside her purse and exited the store without making payment. A search of her person revealed she was in possession of burglary tools and a controlled substance. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 


12. At about 11:12 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Arcadia Methodist Hospital, 300 West Huntington Drive, in regards to a robbery investigation. The victim explained he was walking in the area of Baldwin Avenue and Huntington Drive when he was approached by two unknown males wearing masks. The subjects demanded the victim’s belongings, stabbed him twice with an unknown object after he refused, and fled the area. An unknown good samaritan picked up the victim and dropped him off at the hospital. 

 Saturday, November 2:

Around 7:36 a.m., an officer responded to Cabrera’s Family Restaurant, 625 East Live Oak Avenue, in regards to a burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry through a rear door and fled with a laptop computer and approximately $200 cash. No evidence or witnesses were located; however, review of video surveillance was pending at the time of the report. 

Between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., officers made two arrests for Public Intoxication at the Santa Anita Race Track’s Breeder’s Cup event, 285 West Huntington Drive. Officers determined the two 32-year-old White males were unable to care for themselves. Both subjects were transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
