Arcadia Police Close Santa Anita Canyon Road Due to Weather Conditions

Closure comes after mud slides blocked a portion of the road.

The Arcadia Police Department has closed Santa Anita Canyon Road in Arcadia after a weather-induced mud slide blocked a portion of the road.

Sgt. Brian Ortiz of the APD said the road will likely remain closed for the weekend.

"It will all depend on public works ability to clear the debris off the road," Ortiz said.

Police closed the road at 10:10 a.m. Saturday morning.

Saturday's forecast calls for scattered showers and there's a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Small hail is possible at times. Highs will be in the mid 40s to low 50s with the low expected to sink to 31. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent, according to the National Weather Service.
