Blotter: Teen Allegedly Pulls Switchblade in Fight

A man also broke into Albertsons to steal several cartons of cigarettes.

For the period of Nov. 24-Dec. 1, the Arcadia Police Department responded to 923 calls for service, 108 of which required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Burglar Strikes Annie Nails

At 11:09 a.m. on Nov. 25, an officer was dispatched to Annie Nails at 709 S. First Avenue regarding a reported burglary. A burglar had broken the front glass door and ransacked the nail salon sometime between the late-night hours of Nov. 24 and the early-morning hours of Nov. 25. The salon's owner did not notice anything missing. The salon has no surveillance cameras.

Traffic Collision, DUI Suspected
   
At 7:28 p.m. on Nov. 25, officers responded to the 400 block of Walnut Avenue regarding a two-vehicle traffic collision. One of the vehicle's drivers was reportedly under the influence of alcohol. Officers arrested the 34-year-old on suspicion of DUI and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for processing.

Suspicious Men With Flashlights Reportedly Case Building

At 6:11 a.m. on Nov. 26, officers responded to the 000 block of E. Live Oak Avenue regarding two suspicious men with flashlights standing outside a building. One of the building's doors was open. Officers searched the surrounding area and but couldn't find the men. It was unknown if anything was missing from the location.

Traffic Stop Reportdly Turns Up Drugs, Suspended License

At approximately 11:50 p.m. on Nov. 26, an officer pulled a vehicle with tinted windows over on Colorado Boulevard near Michillinda Avenue. The driver had a suspended license. Officers also reportedly found a stash of methamphetamine in the car and arrested the 43-year-old driver on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Stolen License Plate

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Nov. 27, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration on Live Oak Avenue near Santa Anita Avenue. The driver reportedly also had a suspended license and two outstanding warrants for his arrest, along with a stolen license plate. The 20-year-old man was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

T.V. Stolen From Race Track

At 10:20 p.m. on Nov. 27, officers were dispatched to the Santa Anita Race Track because someone stole a television from a wall-mounted bracket.

Grand Theft Auto

At 5:33 p.m. on Nov. 28, officers responded to the 000 block of E. Live Oak Avenue regarding a stolen 1991 black Acura Integra. The theft took place between 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Auto Burglary

At 8:27 p.m. on Nov. 28, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of W. Duarte Road regarding an auto burglary. Someone smashed the passenger side window of a 1990 blue Buick and stole a CD player. There were no signs of the suspect(s) in the area.

At 12:05 p.m. on Nov. 29, officers responded to the 900 block of W. Huntington Drive regarding a commercial burglary. Someone had forced opened a door leading into the community laundry room, pried open two laundry machine coin vaults and stolen an unknown amount of coins.

Embezzlement at Macy's

At 5:06 p.m. on Nov. 29, an officer responded to Macy's at the Santa Anita Mall regarding an employee in custody on suspicion of theft. He had allegedly concealed several pieces of clothing in his pockets and exited the store through the employee exit. Officers arrested the 20-year-old on suspicion of petty theft and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Purse Stolen at Children's Center

At 8:07 p.m. on Nov. 30, an officer was dispatched to the 000 block of W. Longden Avenue regarding a theft that occurred earlier in the day at All Seasons Children Center, 2612 S. Baldwin Ave. A woman reported her purse had been stolen from her unlocked car while she dropped her daughter off. The suspect reportedly fled in a black sedan. The suspect is described as a 200-pound Hispanic man wearing a black hooded sweater. The victim says she can identify the suspect if she sees him again.

Teen Allegedly Pulls Switchblade in Fight

At 8:35 p.m. on Nov. 30, officers responded to the area of Huntington Drive and Morlan Place regarding a physical fight between two teens. One of them reportedly had a switchblade in his pocket. Officers arrested the 15-year-old on suspicion of possession of a switchblade and transported him to Arcadia City Jail for processing before releasing him to his parents.

Man Breaks Into Albertsons, Steals Cigarettes

At 2:57 a.m. on Dec. 1, officers were dispatched to Albertsons at 298 E. Live Oak Avenue regarding a commercial burglary. Surveillance cameras showed a man breaking the glass front door before entering the store to steal several cartons of cigarettes. The suspect was described as a 6-foot tall white man with a thin build and a black backpack. 

Driving Without a License

At 9:49 p.m., an officer working a DUI checkpoint stopped a vehicle because he reportedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from it. Though the officer did not find any marijuana, he did cite the  23-year-old driver for not having a license.
