Blown Transformer Leads to Signal Outage at Baldwin and Huntington; Police Suggest Alternate Routes

A blown transformer in the 600 block of Duarte Road is causing a major headache for area motorists.

Motorists are experiencing delays at the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Huntington Drive due to a traffic signal outage, police said.

According to Sgt. Mike Castro of the Arcadia Police Department, Southern California Edison has indicated that the signal could be out until 6 a.m. Tuesday. That would be the worst-case scenario, Castro said.

A blown transformer in the 600 block of Duarte caused the traffic signal outage, according to authorities.

Area businesses are open, but police are asking motorists to avoid the intersection if at all possible. An APD Nixle update encourages motorists to use alternate streets such Duarte Road and Foothill Boulevard for east-west travel, and Michillinda Avenue or Santa Anita Avenue for north-south travel.

Arcadia police are currently working the intersection by hand, Castro said.
