An accused burglar is behind bars and is awaiting the arrival of immigration officials after he was arrested Sunday at the
Carlos Estrada, 37, from Los Angeles, was booked on suspicion of commercial burglary, resisting an officer and possession of burglary tools. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has put an immigration hold on Estrada and is being held without bail, police said.
Police were called at 5:13 p.m. to on a commercial burglary occurring at the store. One officer approached Estrada who had reportedly left the store and the suspect fled from officers, said Lieutenant Mike Castro of
Estrada ran through Macy's and into the promenade parking structure, but was eventually captured by officers.
Although Castro could not confirm it, according to scanner reports, there were at least two others present at the store identified by mall security past theft suspect; the group was referred to as a retail theft crew.
Once Estrada fled, mall security reportedly lost visual on the man and woman, according to scanner reports.
