Crime Blotter: Bicycle Collision, Drug Arrests, Forged Checks

Below are the major non-property crime incidents from last week in Arcadia.

Sunday, August 25:

At approximately 6:50 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the intersection of Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue in regards to a traffic collision. A vehicle struck a bicyclist from the rear, causing minor abrasions to his arms and legs. He was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle explained she could not see the bicyclist because the sun was shining too bright in her face.   

Monday, August 26:
At about 2:54 p.m., an officer made consensual contact with a suspicious male subject walking in the area of Las Tunas Drive and El Monte Avenue. The officer discovered the subject was under the influence of a controlled substance. The 31-year-old male was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

Around 11:30 p.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle traveling in the area of Live Oak Avenue and Greenfield Avenue for having no front license plate. Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected an odor of alcohol emitting from inside the vehicle. An investigation revealed the 21-year-old male was under the influence with a blood alcohol level greater than 0.08 percent. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Tuesday, August 27:
Shortly before 2:00 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Arcadia Police Department front counter in regards to a fraud investigation. A representative from Citizens Business Bank, 101 West Huntington Drive, reported that a male suspect entered the location on August 26th and attempted to cash a forged check. Once the suspect was told to wait for confirmation, he fled the location leaving behind his driver's license. An investigation revealed the victim's checkbook was missing. The victim never authorized the check in question and had no idea who stole his property. Further investigation is being conducted by the Detective Bureau. 
The suspect is described as a 19-year-old Hispanic male, approximately 5 foot 7' tall, 156 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.    

Thursday, August 29:  
At about 9:21 a.m., an officer made consensual contact with a suspicious subject in the area of Louise Avenue and Live Oak Avenue. An investigation revealed the subject was on felony probation for narcotics and was in possession of methamphetamine and burglary tools. The 37-year-old male was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

At approximately 9:22 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Arcadia High School, 180 Campus Drive, in regards to a student in possession of narcotics. A staff member noticed the juvenile was acting strange and discovered he had ingested multiple Xanax pills. Prior to being booked at the Arcadia City Jail, the 15-year-old Asian male was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for medical clearance. He was later released to his mother. 

Friday, August 30: 
Just after 11:10 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding on Duarte Road at El Monte Avenue. The officer discovered the driver had a suspended license and expired registration. The 70-year-old female was cited for the violations and her vehicle was left legally parked. 

Saturday, August 31:
Around 2:43 a.m., as officers were conducting a check of a suspicious occupied vehicle in the parking lot of Santa Anita Inn, 130 West Huntington Drive, they observed a suspicious female subject standing nearby. One of the officers made contact with the subject and discovered she was under the influence of methamphetamine. The 19-year-old female was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.  

At approximately 6:46 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for making an illegal turn on Baldwin Avenue at Harvard Avenue. An investigation revealed the driver, a 34-year-old male, was in possession of Hydrocodone and a glass methamphetamine pipe. The 35-year-old male passenger had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
