Fatal Crash on 134 Freeway Snarls Traffic

The crash occurred shortly after 7 a.m. Friday morning, according to authorities.

A man was killed Friday in a multi-vehicle crash on the westbound Ventura (134) Freeway in Glendale, the California Highway Patrol reported. The crash near Harvey Drive was reported shortly after 7 a.m., said CHP Officer Monica Posada.

The man, who was in his 30s, died at the scene, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter. Authorities withheld his name, pending family notification. Three lanes remain closed in each direction of the freeway while crews work to clear the wreckage, which has snarled traffic from at least Monrovia to Burbank.

The circumstances of the crash were under investigation.

Patch will update this story as more details become available.

Patch Asks: If you were caught in the traffic, how long did it take you to get to work today? Did you see any of the accident?

Truly sad news. Most traffic accidents can be avoided if people just use common courtesy. The one that drives me crazy is the lack of use of your cars turning signals. I can't even count how many near misses I've witnessed from this. The saying I thought my nephew is... Blinkers, they save lives.

The bad driving may very well be attributable to a certain demographic - it certainly appears that way. However, in our experience it is not only the 16-30 males, we find the same pattern of driving amongst women and men of all ages. The one thing they do seem to have in common is their ethnicity. Perhaps our police department or the dmv can shead some light on the actual statistics. Once it can be conclusively proven, what should be done about it? That is the question.

They would never release that information if it was proven. God forbid they offend someone.

Right! That's being productive. Looking at actual statistics and trying to determine a solution to the problem. People are dying over this. People claiming "racism" shouldn't stand in the way of helping to come up with a solution. Here's an analogy to consider. More Women like the Twilight Series than Men. Is that a fact based on statistics? Or Sexist. We need the learn the difference or we'll lose more people.
