Fire Blotter: 2-Year-Old Child Locked in Car

Sunday, October 13 
At 1:22 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find that a 74 year old female suffering from abdominal pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene; including intravenous access, 12 lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation. 

Monday, October 14 
At 5:28 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 1300 block of Ramona Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a male patient who was suffering from severe abdominal pain with bloody emesis. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment. 

Tuesday, October 15  
At 1:42 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 300 block of West Campus Drive. Fire crews arrived to find a 10 year old male with a large hematoma on his forehead. The patient had been playing a sport when he accidentally ran into a block wall. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene, including full spinal immobilization. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation.  

Wednesday, October 16 
At 1:07 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of East Live Oak Avenue and Myrtus Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a female patient suffering from minor to moderate injuries. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, intravenous access, cardiac monitoring, and full spinal immobilization. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment. 

Thursday, October 17  
At 1:38 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a fire alarm in the 5500 block of Peck Road. Engine 105 arrived on scene and found the fire alarm had activated at the location. Upon further investigation it was determined that equipment operating in the building struck and activated a fire sprinkler. Engine 105 personnel assisted in turning off the fire sprinkler system and contacted a fire inspector to assist in restoring the fire alarm system. 

Friday, October 18  
At 2:46 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 100 Block of LaPorte Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from chest pain. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, October 19 
At 1:51 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a child locked in a vehicle in a parking lot in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Engine 106 arrived on scene to find a two year child locked in a vehicle. Fire personnel made access into the vehicle and assessed the child. The parent stated the child was acting normally and refused any medical treatment for the child.
