Fire Blotter: Alleged Drunk Man Hit in the Head with a Brick

Authorities say the man was drinking heavily and wouldn't cooperate with the firefighters who treated him.

Sunday, June 9
At 5:51 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of South Sunset Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, June 10
At 11:10 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 00 block of West Huntington Drive. Fire crews arrived to find that a 53 year old female suffering from nausea, dizziness and palpitations. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.

Tuesday, June 11
At 3:13 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 1000 block of South Golden West Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 15 year old male suffering from neck, back and head pain. Further investigation determined that the patient was riding his bicycle when he and was attacked and beaten. Paramedics provided basic life support measures on scene, including full spinal immobilization and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation.

Wednesday, June 12
At 5:56 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a traffic collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of West Huntington Drive and Michillinda Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a female suffering from minor to moderate injuries sustained after losing control of her motorcycle. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, full spinal immobilization, cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy for pain management. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.

Thursday, June 13
At 11:42 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 2100 block of South Second Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 23 year old male suffering from an altered level of consciousness after being hit in the head with a brick. The patient had been drinking heavily and was non-cooperative with fire personnel. Paramedics provided basic life support measures on scene; including full spinal immobilization, intravenous access and oxygen therapy. The patient met trauma center criteria and was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

Friday, June 14
At 3:17 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a male patient who was suffering from general weakness. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, June 15
At 1:36 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 1100 block of El Norte Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a male patient who was suffering from head pain with a small hematoma resulting from a fall. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, spinal immobilization, intravenous access, and wound care. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.
