The Arcadia Fire Department also dealt with several medical assists the week of June 10-16.

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of June 10-16.  The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period:

Sunday, June 10
 
At 11:34 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 100 block of West Magna Vista Avenue. Fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from a local neurological weakness. The patient received advanced life support measures at the scene, including: oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to l for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, June 11
 
At 9:58 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 00 block of North Fifth Avenue. Fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from chest pain with shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life support measures at the scene, including: oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy for pain management. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. 
 
Tuesday, June 12

At 2:24 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the
2200 block of South Eighth Avenue. Fire crews evaluated a minor female experiencing a febrile seizure. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures, including: cooling measures, intravenous access, cardiac monitoring and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
 
Wednesday, June 13
 
At 4:07 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 800 block of Palo Alto Avenue.  Fire crews evaluated a male patient with an altered mental status from a possible diabetic reaction. Paramedics provided advance life support measures on scene, including: blood glucose monitoring, intravenous access and drug therapy to raise the blood sugar levels. The patient was transported to a local hospital for further examination and treatment.
 
Thursday, June 14
 
At 1:10 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 700 block of West Duarte Road.  Fire crews evaluated an elderly female suffering from of an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene, including: intravenous access, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. 
 
Saturday, June 16
 
At 8:32 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a bicycle accident in the 100 block of Campus Drive. Fire crews arrived on scene and found two bicyclists who had collided while taking part in a large group ride.  One patient was evaluated for a possible fractured hand and the second was treated for back and rib pain. Both were treated and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
