Fire Blotter: Child Accidentally Locked in Vehicle

The Arcadia Fire Department also dealt with two structure fires.

The responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of Nov. 6-12. The following is a breakdown of incident types for this period:

Nov. 6

At 5:17 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a water flow alarm in the 5600 block of South Peck Road. Fire crews investigated and determined the activation was caused from rainwater seeping into the system. The owner was notified.

Nov. 8

At 9:49 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance and Battalion 105, assisted by units from Monrovia Fire, responded to a structure fire in the 200 block of Santa Cruz Avenue. Fire crews determined a faulty electrical outlet caused the fire. The resident was advised to call an electrician for repair.

Nov. 9

At 7:03 p.m., Engine 106, Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105, with units from Monrovia Fire, responded to a major appliance fire in the 100 block of Woodruff Avenue. Firefighters discovered a fire in the laundry room adjacent to the garage.

Firefighters quickly contained the flames. An investigation concluded the fire was accidental.

Nov. 10

At 5:32 p.m., Engine 106 arrived at the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue to rescue a child locked inside a vehicle. The child did not appear to be in any distress. The child's mother had accidentally locked her keys in the vehicle. Fire personnel used their lock out kit to open the vehicle. The child did not require any medical attention.
