FIRE BLOTTER: Elderly Woman Injured in Traffic Collision

The top incidents from the Arcadia Fire Department blotter.

The responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of Jan. 1-7.  

Jan. 1

At 4:38 p.m., Engine 106 and Pasadena Truck 32 responded to a person trapped in an elevator in the 1000 block of Michillinda Avenue in the City of Pasadena.  Fire personnel discovered one person trapped inside an elevator car. Fire crews utilized special tools designed for elevator rescue to release the doors and free the trapped victim. The victim had no medical complaints. The store maintenance company was contacted.

Jan. 2

At 4:27 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a Traffic Collision at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Newman Avenue. Fire crews discovered a two-car collision and evaluated two elderly female patients, one suffering from neck and back pain and the other from elbow pain. Both patients received basic life support on scene, including full spinal immobilization and assessment.The patients were transported to for further evaluation and treatment.

Jan. 3

At 3:22 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a minor trauma in the 300 block of North Baldwin Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a toddler who sustained various injuries from a fall. Paramedics assessed the patient and discussed treatment options with the child’s parent. The parent refused any additional treatment or transport of the child and opted to seek his/her own medical attention.

Jan. 4

At 5:03 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 2700 block of Longley Way.  Fire personnel evaluated a male patient suffering from the sudden onset of chest pain.  The patient received advanced life support measures on scene; including a cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, oxygen therapy, and drug therapy for the pain.  The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Jan. 5

At 10:30 a.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 500 block of Rosemarie Drive. Fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from chest pain with shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.

At 11:57 a.m., Engine 105, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105 and Battalion 105 responded to an overturned vehicle at the intersection of Alice Street and South Santa Anita Avenue. Fire crews evaluated a two-car collision that resulted in one vehicle rolling 360 degrees and landing upright on its wheels. Fire crews treated an elderly female for bumps and bruises and transported her in full spinal immobilization to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
