Fire Blotter: Man Falls Off Roof

The Arcadia Fire Department also responded to an injury traffic collision, among several other medical assists.

The responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of April 22-28. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period:

At 5:56 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 1000 block of West Huntington Drive. Fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from severe shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, drug therapy, cardiac monitoring, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to for further evaluation and treatment.

At 5:44 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire personnel evaluated a male patient who was experiencing an altered mental status due to post seizure activity. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, blood glucose monitoring, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Tuesday, April 24

At 12:17 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 900 block of South First Avenue. Fire crews evaluated an elderly female experiencing an altered level of consciousness from a possible diabetic reaction. Paramedics provided advanced life support on scene including intravenous access, cardiac monitoring, blood glucose monitoring, drug therapy and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
 

Wednesday, April 25

At 12:53 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 900 block of East Huntington Drive. Fire crews evaluated a male patient who fell from the roof of a single story apartment building. The patient had an altered level of consciousness after striking his head. Paramedics placed the patient in full spinal immobilization and provided advanced life support measures on scene; including an intravenous access, 12-lead cardiac monitoring and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to the trauma center at Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Thursday, April 26

At 5:38 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 1300 block of Michillinda Avenue. Fire personnel evaluated a pediatric patient who was suffering from an altered mental status. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, blood glucose monitoring, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Friday, April 27

At 10:19 a.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Fire crews evaluated a male patient experiencing an extremely rapid heart rate. Paramedics performed advanced life support measures on scene to treat the super ventricular tachycardia; including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, drug therapy, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, April 28

At 6:15 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic collision with reported injuries at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and North First Avenue. Fire crews evaluated a female patient complaining of right leg pain. Paramedics provided basic life support measures on scene. The patient declined any further treatment or transportation to a local hospital.
