FIRE BLOTTER: Person Injured in Traffic Collision

Firefighters also responded to two reported structure fires.

The responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of Nov. 20-26. The following is a breakdown of incident types for this period:

Nov. 22:

Fire personnel from Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 assisted in preparing and serving a Thanksgiving dinner sponsored by the Arcadia Recreation Department to senior citizens at the . The meal was prepared by Chef Mario from Vista Cove Retirement Home, a local favorite. It consisted of turkey with all the trimmings, including pumpkin pie for dessert. Approximately 120 meals were served.  
 
Nov. 24

At 3:04 p.m., Engine 107 responded to a fire alarm in the 800 block of Wigwam Avenue. Fire personnel discovered light smoke coming from a two-story residential structure. Fire crews determined that burnt food on the stove caused the smoke. 

Nov. 25

At 11:45 a.m., Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic collision with injuries in the 1000 Block of South Baldwin Avenue. One patient suffered minor to moderate injuries in the collision. The patient received advanced life support measures at the scene, including full spinal immobilization  and cardiac monitoring. Paradmedics transported the patient to for further evaluation and treatment.

Nov. 26

At 9:58 a.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105 and Battalion 105, along with units from the Monrovia Fire Department, responded to a reported structure fire in the 100 block of South First Avenue. Light smoke filled the inside of a single-story commercial business. Fire crews determined a faulty electrical panel caused the smoke. Southern California Edison Company arrived on scene to shut off power to the business until the electrical panel could be repaired. Fire crews removed the smoke and used a thermal imaging camera to check for fires elsewhere within the building.
