First Look: Arcadia Police Department App

Features of the new APD app for iPhone and Android include 1-touch dialing and links to the department's social media.

Yeah, there's an app for that.

The Arcadia Police Department has partnered with MyPD to provide a user-friendly smart phone application. The free app is available for download to both iPhones and Androids.

Key features include department contact information and one button dialing, links to the department's Facebook and Twitter pages, push notifications, tip-submission forms, question and feedback links and sex registrant info.

Lt. Tom LeVeque, who handles much of the department's community relations affairs, says the app is part of the department's ongoing quest to have an open line of communication with the public.

"There's really a lot of little features in this thing that give the community much greater access to us," LeVeque said of the app.

The department has looked for ways to reach out to Arcadia residents digitally ever since budget cuts forced it to shutter its community relations office at the Santa Anita Mall a few years ago.

"We have to have a visible presence for people," LeVeque said. "It's just the way times changes."
