Girl Scout Troop Leader Accused of Stealing Cookie Money
Arcadia Police say $4,000 in profits from cookie sales went missing from the account of a South El Monte/El Monte-based troop.
The Pasadena Star-News reported a local Girl Scout troop leader is suspected of stealing $4,000 in profits from recent cookie sales.
South El Monte resident Ana Isabel Juarez, 30, was arrested last month on suspicion of felony grand theft, Arcadia Police Capt. Larry Goodman told the Star-News. She will appear in court May 8.
According to the newspaper, the alleged theft was reported to the because the troop reports to a Girl Scouts of America service center in that city.

The charges stem from the unauthorized use of a Girl Scouts debit card tied to the South El Monte/El Monte-based troop's cookie account, Goodman told the Star-News. He added that Juarez also had a warrant out for her arrest in connection with a 2001 grand theft embezzlement case in Huntington Park.
Girl Scout officials told the Star-News they are trying to track down an additional $2,000 missing from Troop 15781's account.
