House Fire Forces Some Evacuations on Live Oak

Flames take the life of a family pet in accidental fire, officials said.

No one was injured late Friday night in a house fire that unfortunately took the life of the resident's pet.

The fire was reported around 10 p.m. in the 500 block of West Live Oak Avenue, according to Lieutenant Bob Anderson of Arcadia Police. The fire was not suspicious in nature, but officials would not specify what exactly caused the accidental fire.

Fire officials reported knockdown before 10:30 p.m.

Once authorities arrived, they found the single-story home "fully engulfed" and evacuated residents on either side of the burning home as a precaution. No one was inside the home at the time, Anderson said.

Someone at the scene reported to police that a family dog was inside the home, according to scanner reports. Whether the person on scene was a resident of the burning home is not known. Fire officials from station 106 on South Baldwin Avenue were able to confirm a family pet was inside.

"There was one family pet that passed away due to the fire," said Barry Spriggs, battalion chief.
