UPDATE: Power Should Be Back By Sunday, Says Edison

About 16,000 customers still have no power in Arcadia.

7:48 p.m.

Power has been restored to more than 65 percent of customers who lost service, the remaining customers will have power by Sunday night, according to Southern California Edison. 

About 16,000 customers are without power in Arcadia as a result of the that hit the Southland Wednesday and Thursday, according to Southern California Edison’s outage center.

The majority of customers without power are located near the following intersections:

  • 4,148 customers without power near West Huntington Drive and Sunset Boulevard
  • 2,052 customers without power near West Duarte Road and El Monte Avenue
  • 2,969 customers without power near West Grove Avenue and Rodeo Road

3:00 p.m. 

According to the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, up to four facilities have been closed due to damages from severe windstorms that impacted the area.

The closed parks include Descanso Gardens in La Canada and Arcadia Park, Santa Anita Golf Course, Los Angeles County Arboretum and the Botanic Garden in Arcadia.

Officials are encouraging the public to stay away from these parks to avoid dangers such as downed power lines, downed trees and possible loose branches. Crews are working around the clock to clean up the impacted areas, according to a statement from the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Also, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s personnel have been deployed to Arcadia Park and are patrolling the area to ensure the public’s safety. Park facility damages include felled trees, broken power lines, building damage, branches and debris littering the grounds.

1:50 p.m.

The is closed until further notice due to extensive storm damage.

The said Southern California Edison has established a command center at . The company is working on a local substation that powers a large chunk of the city.

However, the company has not released an etimate how many customers in Arcadia still do not have power or when the power will be restored.

All previous road closures remain in place.

City officials say the DPW is trying to clear debris and open roadways as soon as possible and urge commuters to be patient.

7:46 a.m.

7:39 a.m.

Southern California Edison spokesperson Paul Klein said 151,602 customers remain in the dark.

He did not have specific numbers for Arcadia, but said that most customers without power are concentrated in the San Gabriel Valley.

Klein said SCE can't estimate when power will be fully restored to the SGV.

"The objective is to restore power as quickly as possible," he said. "As the winds abate and crews keep working, we will restore power to everyone as soon as possible."

Customers who are getting priority are law enforcement and hospitals.

If you see a downed power line, DO NOT touch it, even it appears dead. Call 911 and report it immediately.

6:45 a.m.

The has released the lastest list of road closures.

Closures are as follows:

Colorado at Santa Anita is closed to westbound traffic.
Camino Real at El Monte is closed to westbound traffic.
Longden is closed to all traffic between El Monte and Holly.
Colorado Place is closed to all traffic between Colorado Boulevard and Huntington Drive.                                                                                                          200 block of W. Leroy and 1100 block South 5th remain closed to commuters due to wires down.
