Investigation Concludes in 'Suspicious' Arcadia Garage Fire

A fire was ruled "suspicious in nature" but investigators did not determine a definitive cause for the blaze.

An investigation into a garage fire called "suspicious" by the Arcadia Fire Department concluded without determining the definitive cause of the blaze, a spokeswoman for the department said Wednesday.

The investigation into a fire that erupted in a two-car garage in the 200 block of Camino Real Avenue Tuesday night found the likely cause was "careless or reckless disposal of hot embers," according to department spokeswoman Beth Stogner. The source of those embers was not known, she said.

"The final conclusion is that it's suspicious in nature but we don’t have a definitive cause," she said.

Stogner told Patch on Tuesday that the owners of the garage had planned to demolish it before the fire broke out. The house on the property is currently vacant, she said.
